Well here she is! Meet Charlotte Russell Hernandez...aka CHARLIE! Katy went into labor at 1:30 am Tuesday night and called me Wednesday morning so I could come over and help out. It was really amazing to see Katy work through the whole labor and she did it like a champ! Went into the hospital Wednesday night (Loopy and I slept on the hospital floor). Thursday morning things were moving slowly and the nurses at the hospital decided to help move things along... Charlie was born at 11:09 am on May 6th and it was the most amazing thing to hear her cry from outside the door. She weighed 7 lbs 3 oz and has a head FULL of RED hair. Mom, Dad, and baby are doing great and are home enjoying the sleeping and eating beauty.

Had a great Easter with the family in Del Mar then headed out for a sunset beach shoot with Katy and Charlie....(Nick was my assistant for the shoot!) We had so much fun and got some really great shots! Check out that baby bump...only a few more weeks until Nick's and my god-baby is born and we are so excited to meet her and spoil her! Hope you all had a great Easter...we miss you all the time, but even more on holidays.

Grandmas Diamonds - The Remix

It's finally finished! Just picked up my new engagement ring today and we love it. Nick gave me his grandma Nobles ring as well as my Grandma Goodrich's ring and I designed it into one amazing antiquishly modern ring that used all 4 diamonds, tons of detail, and 21 accent diamonds. It finally feels like we are REALLY engaged now and we are so happy to finally have the finished product. Thank you so much to Mama Beth and my mom for this priceless ring it will make us smile everyday.

Only 7 weeks left until mine and Nicks god baby arrives! Charlie is due April 25th and we are all super excited/nervous and can't wait to meet her. We had a baby shower for Katy last weekend and she took home tons of new outfits, diapers, and baby shwag. The shower was beautiful and it was so nice to see how loved Charlie already is.

Mama Beth came to visit a couple weeks ago and we had an awesome time with her. We had dinner surf-side in Carlsbad village and had some of the best lobster and crab ev-er and we spent alot of time driving along the coast letting her breathe in the ocean air. We also got to travel up to LA to see Bec play some softball games and Nick and Mama Beth took a trip to Coronado on her last day here. Pibb's was super happy to see his grandma and even helped her cook tuna casserole and let her scratch his butt. We were sad to see mama Beth leave but we know she will be back soon... summer is on its way!

Yep its true. We are so sad to leave our little Condo in Encinitas but its a new year and we are ready for a new place. On Sat Nick and I will be packing up the contents of our condo in Encinitas and heading just 15 minutes up the coast to our beach bungalow in Carlsbad. The new place is adorable and feels like a tropical resort. It has beautiful french doors that open to a backyard...an actual YARD. Pibbs is suped excited about it! We feel like we have finally "made it" now because we live WEST of the 5 freeway...which means we are two blocks from the beach. We also finally got a new couch that has a sleeper bed in it...just in case anyone wants to visit! Pictures coming soon!

Finally.
Hope everyone had an amazing Christmas and as most of you know Nick asked me to marry him early Christmas morning. We started a tradition our first Christmas together (3 years ago) where we will write each other a letter and put it into each others stocking. It basically talks about the year that we had together and why we love each other so much. Well...Nicks letter this year was the most amazing thing I have ever read. At the end of the letter he wrote "I asked your Dad and he thinks this is a good idea so put this letter down and look at me." So of course I knew right away what he was doing and I started crying the second he got down on one knee to propose. The "hysterical" tears came soon after that when he presented me with not one ring but TWO, and explained to me that the single diamond ring was the ring my grandmother wore and it is the ring that my dad gave to my mom. The 3 diamond ring was his grandma Nobles and its beautiful. We plan to combine the two rings into one. We are so so happy and love calling each other "fiance" as dumb as that is. We have NO plans yet as far as when and where the wedding will be but we will keep you all posted when we figure it all out! Love you all!

Nick and I packed up our snowboards last week and headed to back to CO for the first time in 9 months! The trip was planned so that we could suprise our best friend Chad at his engagment party, meet his soon to be wife, and get a little snowboarding in as well. It was so great to see our families, say goodbye to Duke, and meet the newest addition to the family, Josie. We spent one day up at Breckenridge in 3 degree weather but it was totally worth it (especially when I beat both boys down the mountain first run...I still got it!) Being in Colorado made us a little home sick for sure and we were sad to leave after only a few days. Christmas is going to be very strange without snow and all of you. Thank you all so much for everything and we plan on coming back soon....as soon as we save up enough money.

We are thinking of Duke today and know that he is in a better place and is no longer in pain. We feel very lucky to have had him in our lives and feel so grateful that we got to say goodbye to him last week when we were in Colorado. We know he is somewhere up there in our snowboarding heaven eating as many snow cones as he wants. We love you Duke and will always be thinking of you.

Its official! My best friend Jessie is the first (of many) of my good friends to get married. The wedding took place in Old Town San Diego and it was beautiful. The night was perfect... up until someone spilled red wine all over the brides dress (that she has to wear again next week for her second wedding in South Africa). Congrats to the newlyweds, we were so happy to be a part of it all!

Hey everyone I am writting you from the lovely state of CT where the weather is currently 55 degrees and there is not a sun in the ski. I headed back home to CT on Monday to help my dad out during his hip replacement surgery this week. The new parts were put in on Tuesday and although he is in alot of pain he managed to get out of the bed today and sit in a chair....which is something he hasn't comfortably been able to do in a very long time. The doctors told me going in that the the surgery would take about an hour....well three hours later I was a little nervous and needed to know where my daddy-o was...turns out he had grown so many extra bones in there that they needed to get rid of so that is what took so long. We have been hanging out in the hospital for what seems like forever but he finally gets to leave on Thursday and start his recovery process. We are both so happy that he finally had this all taken care of and I am pretty excited to maybe be able to get him back on the mountain to ski someday....ok maybe not, but I will settle for walking without a limp or any pain. There are pictures from the hospital but they don't need to be posted, just took them so I could remember this time because when all is said and done this is one of the most important things he has ever done for himself and I am happy to be here to see what he will do next. Gotta get back to the hospital now, the nurses have been great and rigged up a recliner chair for me in the room and let me stay through the night even though visiting hours end at 8. I think they feel bad that I had to leave sunny San Diego to come to CT, but its all worth it!

Today ladies and gentlemen marks the end of an era...my "little" brother Jamie has turned 21 and can no longer be called my "little" brother. It seems like just yesterday I was chasing him around the house with the intent of beating the crap out of him JUST because he was my little brother. I can remember him always wearing brightly colored muscle pants and being a odd smelling kid in general. I will be the first to admit that when he was little he bugged the hell out of me and stole all of the attention that I naturally deserved (haha) But today he has grown up to be one of the most geniue and unique people I know. He has taught me alot about not caring what other people think and about just being the person that you are meant to be. I am proud of him everyday for the things he has accomplished, the man that he has grown up to be, and whatever it is he will do next. I am lucky to have him as my brother, my friend, and my gentle giant...and I am not just saying all of this because he could easily beat me up now. Love you little Broski!

We have been over here in Cali waiting patiently to hear the news and finally got the call yesterday to let us know that she had arrived....and we were sent this text message picture of her shortly after! We love the Wheeler clan and the newest addition Josie Sue Wheeler!!!

Wild West Halloween party 2009

We did it! We won best costume at this years halloween party. And all it took was some cutting of cardboard and a couple of markers! This past weekend we headed over to my aunt Lynn]s for her annual halloween party and this years theme was the Wild West. When Nick and I walked in we were given the title of best costume on the spot... unfortunately there is no consolation prize just a few high fives...but we were totally happy with that. We also found out a while back that my cousin Katy is going to have a baby...we were all a little shocked but are now totally excited. I recently just hosted the Grand Opening at my studio and I will post pictures to that soon. We ended up having around 200 people show up and there was amazing food, music, speeches, etc. Hope you are all doing well and we can't WAIT for Andrew and Allison to welcome baby number 4 any day now! xoxoxo

As part of Nicks birthday gifts we headed down to Clairmont to Absolute tattoo so that Nick could get a new tattoo. He wanted something that would remind him of CO even though he is for sure in love with living in Cali. He spent his whole life in CO and has so much family and friends there so it needed to be something that he could look at and see the place he grew up. We both love how it turned out....

I was a little bummed to not be getting a tattoo...but maybe in Feb when its MY birthday!

We folks Nick is officially 26! We both took the day off and spent it runnin around Cali doing anything and everything the 26 year old wanted to do. The morning started off kinda like christmas when Nick woke up to a TON of presents. He had cards from friends and family, a recipe for mexican spaghetti from his mom (it was his birthday dinner), new shoes, weights, money for a new tattoo etc. He was a happy boy for sure. We got ready and grabbed some amazing breakfast by the beach then took our kiddo Pibbs to play at the park. Then we headed to Del Mar to Loopy and Russ's house because they are the best and let Nick play pool and ping pong his birthday which is something he really wanted to do (the cat on the ping pong table was a little bit of an issue.) Then we drove down to Oceanside pier and walked around for a while then had lunch in Carlsbad. The 26 year old was feelin kinda sleepy...I assume because of his old age...so we took a nap before Bday dinner and dessert. Had such a great day and we were reminded of how awesome it is to have a day off together once in a while....even if we are more than half way to thirty!

Nick and I headed down to Pacific Beach a few weeks ago to a place called the WaveHouse. They pump ocean water into the building and have created this man made wave that can reach up to a barrel of 10 feet. If that doesn't sound ridiculous it gets even crazier when people start riding wakeboards and boogie boards on it. We had an awesome time watching people wreck themselves and an even better time watching the pros show everyone how its done. Later that night we got to see a concert by the band called Citizens cope. It was an awesome night!

Wow...it has been a while since our last post. SO much has been going on out here and we have been having a pretty crazy summer. Becca was out here for about a month and we did so many fun things with her and as always were super sad to see her go. Nick has been working on his resume and is currently looking for a teachers assistant job (if you know any teachers in CA let us know!) And I have been busy with work as always and just took on a second job designing wedding albums and editing photographs for another photographer on the street that I work on. I never thought I would be a work-a-holic but I guess I am turning into one. I have also been second shooting for my boss and a few of my photographs have already sold to clients...pretty crazy! About a week ago I went to Vegas for my best friends bachlorette party...it was pretty wild and I was so happy to finally come home after two long days in 120 degree weather. As summer is slowing down we hope that you are doing well and we miss you all tons. It is still a little strange for us to think about how we wont be seeing the first snowfall this year in CO and CT...and although it bums us out we know you will all be there watching it for us. xoxo

Hey folks! Just posting a few more pictures of the totally awesome fun-ness we are having out here in cali! I also forgot to mention that my good friend Liza game to visit Cali a few weeks ago and we got to hang out for one night so that was great...we had not seen each other for almost 5 years!. As for Nick, Becca, and I we have been keeping busy and doing as much as possible and can afford. The pictures are from the other night when we went to see our friends band play but the show was canceled...we ended up at our favorite bar, the Shanty...its usually empty and pool is cheap! Becca is finally here and visiting for a MONTH! We have been staying pretty active and going on a lot of runs (Bec needs to work out for softball and soccer in a few months) so we decided to run with her. OK Nick and Becca run and Pibbs and I jog along slowly behind them... whatever, its exercise! We have been spending a lot of time at the beach surfing and relaxing and both of the Diede kids have glowing tans after only a few days. I on the other hand remain pig-mentally challenged. This will be a difficult post for sure. Last night at the age of 95 my grandma "Momma" passed away in Connecticut. She was the mother of my Dad and was an amazing woman. Its been a really long time since I have lost someone that close to me and kind of feels like a little part of you passes on with them when they go. I got the phone call this morning and have been having tear filled conversations with family all day...its been a rough, you can prepare all you want for the death of someone you love but you can never expect how much it will hurt when it happens. My family all knows that it was her time to go and we are glad that she can go be somewhere now with my Grandfather. Momma has had Alzheimer's for many years now and has forgotten who we all were since then. My dad said it had been a while since he had gone to visit her because its hard to see her just staring off into space not knowing who she was or who her family was. It made me so happy to know that when my dad finally got the strength to go and see her the other day he told her his name and her eyes slowly followed his as if she knew for that moment who he was. I feel like she was just waiting for him to say goodbye so that she could go and I know that she is in a better place now. Below is some art that I made of her when she first got Alzheimer's and its my favorite picture of her sitting on the beach from when she was younger, there wasn't much that I could do here in California but go to the beach today. I spent a long time in the water alone saying goodbye to her while Nick was so wonderful and waited for me on the beach. I also found a great old picture of her front door from her little pink house in Connecticut...I guess that is where she will always be to me. I'll be flying home to Connecticut next week and hopefully I will be able to see it. We love all of you and please tell the people close to you that love them everyday.

Summer summer time

Hi everyone! Don't really have any big news these days...as always we have both been really busy. My uncle recently just got out of the hospital and has been stuck in bed for almost a week now (having seizures and feeling pretty weak) so we have been going to visit him so he isn't super bored in bed. Our goal is always to make him laugh but he ends up just making us crack up hysterically. He recently had gamma ray knife surgery to make a tumor in his bring shrink down (its worked for six other tumors!) he is undoubtedly super man and my hero for sure. My aunt and uncles neighbors that are in the area have set up a program where they take turns bringing meals to the house so that my aunt can just focus on taking care of uncle russ (she is superwoman!) and calls us often to come and take leftovers. Nick and I have been staying pretty active and running almost everday. We have also been surfing a ton and Nick has gotten reall good at it! I on the other hand belong on a snowboard. We are excited for Becca Nicks sister to get here on August 3rd...she is staying for a month! Hope you are all doing well and we miss you! xoxo

4th of July festivies

Sorry for the lack of posts our internet has been a little shady lately (because we "borrow" it from our neighbors) but I decided to just add an entry from work. Nick and I had a pretty crazy 4th of July and we documented the day pretty awesomely if I do say so myself. The day started with a crazy bulldog photoshoot followed by breakfast. Next we headed out to meet some friends at the beach for a major surf sesh (Nick and I definatley belong on snowboards) Then after spending a few hours in the sun we returned home sun burned but happy and ate sandwhiches in bed before taking a much needed nap. When we woke up we started to get ready to meet a group of friends on a boat in Mission Bay to see the fireworks and listen to our friends band. It took us a while to find a parking spot so we ended up missing the boat! We promised each other to make the night awesome dispite watching our friends and an open bar float away towards the fireworks so we decided to ride the near by rollercoaster. The coaster was followed by some much needed sushi and fortune cookies. As the night started to come to an end we got a phone call from one of our boat partying friends who let us know that the boat was on its way back to pick us up! We waited on the dock and watched as the boat pulled into the dock with our friends on the top deck waving to us and we joined them and danced into the wee hours of the night. We finished up our day at IN-AND-OUT eating some of the greasiest/best burgers in the world. We couldn't have asked for a better 4th but we do wish we were spending it with all of you!

We went out Thursday night to celebrate Nicks enrollment at Mira Costa College in Encinitas! Its true folks, I guess Nick is proof that its never too late to make it happen. Nick will be starting school in Sept and will be taking classes to get his degree in education. He decided he wants to be a 4th grade teacher and is planning on coaching soccer at one of the local highschools. He will be taking placement tests next week and then picking out his classes shortly after that! The nice thing about this college is how close it is to our condo...check out this map! There is also a campus in Oceanside that is super close to Nicks work and he can take classes at either location. We are pretty happy over here in Cali and can't wait for Nick to start this new awesome part of his life. As for me...Im just siked to be dating a college boy!

Recently we had a big birthday bash for my dad out here in California. My moms side of the family was nice enough to fly him out for a week to hang out and relax but we really had no down time. At the birthday party on Sat night my boss Kevin said he would snap a few pictures and this is what he came up with! He managed to get some great shots between us laughing hysterically and crying like babies...we were so happy to all be together and love that these moments were captured. I was able to edit the pictures you see here and get them to my dad before he left this morning and he was so happy to have them. It sure is nice knowing a professional photographer because with this crazy family, there is always time for a wild photoshoot! p.s. I HAD to have a shot of my dad with his guitar and his redsox hat!

Here are some photos from the recent photoshoot that we had with Mr. Pibbs at work. He put up quite a fight but we ended up with some really sweet shots. Nick and I have been busy spending time with my dad and brothers who are out here in Cali visiting for a few days. We had a huge birthday party for my dad on sat and my boss Kevin took some professional photos of the family which I will be posting soon (or as soon as I edit them). Our days have been filled with good food and lots of guitar playing from my dad and brother. Nick and my uncle Russ have started a bet and have been playing pool everyday for the past 4 days together. They have until July 5th to play as many games as possible and whoever loses has to buy the other guy breakfast. July 6th is the day uncle Russ goes back into the hospital for treatment so I have a feeling no matter what Nick will buy the man some pancakes! Nick has been doing great and although he is a little bummed to go back to work after his week long vacation he is happy to be all signed up for school and recently filed his financial aid information. Looks like the next big purchase for us won't be something as expensive as a car but instead a back-pack for the college boy! Much love xoxo

Kristen (Lynnies best friend) was here last week for some fun and some sun and we definatley got a lot of both. We did so many awesome things while she was here and even though we are exhausted now it was well worth it. We went downtown Friday night to celebrate a friends birthday and had WAY too much fun dancing and hanging out with friends. Kristen was super excited to see Jessie again because it had been about 6 years since she had last seen her. We took a trip to LA on Sat to see our friend Diane who we know from highschool and she drove us around in her BMW convertible...no big deal (yes it was) and we got to check out her new house which was super cute. We had a BBQ sunday night and checked out our friends band called the Phermones at a cool bar thats right on the beach then we went and played pool with a group of friends. We also rented beach cruiser bikes down in Pacific Beach and rode them on the boardwalk....we thought it would be a nice calm bike ride but it turned out to be a full on race/competition to see who could get the most high-fives from strangers. We spent alot of time shopping and laying on the beach and I think Nick and I did a pretty good job of trying to convince Kristen to move to california...we are keeping our fingers crossed. On Monday Kristens last day here we headed to La Jolla to see the seals and grab some lunch. There are usually HUNDREDS of seals on the beach but for some reason we only saw a few. It was still fun to watch them swim around and try and flop themselves onto the rocks to sun bathe. We miss you all and hope you will come out and visit soon, these pictures are PROOF that we can show you some fun! xoxo

Kristen is in Cali!!! I won't be posting much in the next couple of days...Im taking a vacation and spending time with my best friend! I will post pictures soon and they should be interesting, we are renting beach cruiser bikes in Pacific Beach, taking a trip to LA, going dancing in downtown San Diego, going to see my friends band play near the beach, and just re-living our Cali days from when we were younger! xoxo

Also click on portfolio and then portraits to see another shot. We had a doggie photoshoot at the studio the other day with Pibbs and a couple other big dogs. Pibbs was the star of course and we ended up getting some really great photos of him. Maybe its just me but I think my pup was meant to be famous. Sorry we have been lacking with the posts but I have been working like...a dog. This weekend was an annual event in Soloana Beach called the Fiesta Del Sol and we were thankful enough to have a booth at the event for Coast Highway Photography. It was a big deal for my work but also meant that I would be spending 30 hours in two days working this event. I need a vacation and I can't wait for my best friend Kristen to get here on Thursday so I can have some down time (if thats what you wanna call it). Nicks ankle is all heeled and he was back out playing soccer yesterday and showing off his skills. Hope you all are doing great and we miss you!

Congrats to my mom for getting her first HOLE IN ONE today! I was at work and got this picture as a text message and I was so proud! Sorry for the lack in posts but we have been super busy as usual. Nick sprained his ankle last week pretty bad playing soccer but has been healing very quickly. Pibbs has been doing great out here and enjoying walks around our apartment complex and seeing all the other dog neighbors. I have been super busy with work and convinced my boss to do an awesome photoshoot with my friend Matt. We took a bunch of amazing pictures and ended the shoot with Matt in a a tux sitting in his hot tub filled with bubbles. We printed a sixty inch of it for outside of the studio... we think it might bring more people inside to see the other work! Things have been going great and we are looking forward to having my best friend Kristen come out on the 11th and then my Dad and brother Jamie are coming out on the 18th... now I just need to take a few days off so that I can hang with everyone. Nick has worked with the mens wearhouse for 5 years now so he is getting a sabbatical (sp?) which is 3 weeks paid vacation...not a bad deal! Hope you are all doing well and we miss you!

So Nick told me this great story today about how some people were a little confused with the picture posted below of my boss putting my new desk into the back of his car. Nicks mom (whose name will remain anonymous) though that Kevin was a "little person" which would be fine but he isn't. So just to clear things up the guy holding the desk in this picture is on a tall ledge and my boss is just standing on the ground and I have included a photo of him next to a normal sized woman just so you can get and idea of his scale. When I told my boss the story he laughed until he cried! On a more serious note my business cards came in today and they rock. xoxo

Long days

Hi everyone sorry for the lack of posts on the blog but we have been very busy. We just got memberships to the Y and Nick has been getting up early to play soccer in their indoor soccer fields, he usually has it all to himself! And I has been working 12 hour days and moving the photography studio from one place to another which is a workout in itself. Things have been going great aside from a pretty bad ear infection that Pibbs has been working through. Below is a picture of my new computer at work and a picture of the bulldog at the beach since he has started to feel better and another shot of the sunset on the drive home from work. It's funny but Nick and I always drive along the coast to get home instead of taking the highway...even though it takes much longer. I guess its worth it for a sunset like that! Hope all of you are doing great and we miss you.

Earthquake!

So a mini earthquake hit us last night at around 8:30...I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth and saw the glass shower doors start shaking and thought to myself that I work too much and I am seeing things...that or the lady that lives above us was really stompin around that night. But when I came out of the bathroom Nick looked like he had seen a ghost and said that he was laying on the bed and felt it rock back and forth and he thought someone was for sure under the bed and he was going to have to beat them up. It wasn't a big deal but they think some more might be on the way...don't worry we know how to swim if we fall in the ocean.

My boss and I spent six hours shopping today for new furniture for the new photography studio that we are moving into this weekend. Here is a picture of crazy Kevin who aside from having his picture taken...is a professional. The second picture is my new muy expensive desk being loaded into Kevins truck....I think it will go nicely with my brand new computer. Tell me again how I got this job? Nick has been trying to get through prom season at work which has been annoying but the good news is that I can choose what days I want off so that means Nick and I can have days off together finally! We spent a few hours at the DMV yesterday and I finally passed the written drivers test after my second try...I should get my Cali license in a week or two! We celebrated with snow cones and a day at the beach. Miss you all xo

Just got an email with the best pictures ever! Becca and her team recently visited the Long Beach Aquarium and she got to hang out with some of these cool animals. Bec told me about the otter who quickly became her new best bud. AcousticlyBaM (10:46:23 PM): i sat there with him while everyone else had to leave... we got to go up in little groups and i never left his side. and i got to do tricks with him and feed him his yummies for the day.. yahoo ...

She also said that the woman at the Aquarium offered her an internship! So now all we need to do is find Bec a car and a place to stay in Long Beach at some point.

A day in LA

Today we headed up to LA with Katy (Lynnies cousin) to watch one of Becca's softball games at Loyola Marymount University. Her team played great this weekend and won the PCSC Title which you can read about HERE The title was a huge achievement for the team and it also means a HUGE championship ring for Beccas finger...we couldn't be more proud of her. She is amazing to watch at these softball games and everyone always comments on how you can see her smile even if she is way out in the outfield. We finished up the day by heading into West Hollywood which Nick had never seen before and later told me "he never wants to see it again" so it looks like we wont be heading back to LA anytime soon. It was a fun day and even though we all came home with sunburns we were happy to see our Bec.

The Design District/Lynnie's new gig

It's official. Lynnie has a full time position at Coast Highway Photography on Cedros Ave in Solana Beach. A lovely day at the DMV

Yesterday Nick and I spend a LOVELY afternoon at the DMV registering our cars and applying for California licenses (yay!) Little did we know we had to retake the written portion of the drivers test. Now, In Colorado the questions are pretty basic on the written test for example: "When approaching train tracks do you A. Stop your car on the tracks and make choo choo sounds B. Pass over slowly and throw a penny on the tracks for good luck C. Proceed with caution and stop look and listen in both directions." California's written test is a little more complicated then that...At the end of the day one of us came out on top....

Luckily you can take the test more than once, so it looks like I will have to make another trip to the DMV and wait with all the "other" 16 year olds to find out if I get that California drivers license that I have been dreaming about. Wish me luck.

New Car!

Hi everyone, Nick and I have been keeping very busy with work and play of course. Nick was the top sales person for the Mens Wearhouse in San Diego this week....so I would say he is doing pretty well out here. I have been assisting photo-shoots pretty regularly and was asked to possibly take on a more full time position. Some exciting news is that Nick and I bought a car this weekend!!! The Cabrio is still alive and well but Nick needed a car to cruise the coast in so we bought this Dodge intrepid for great price and its in excellent shape. We spent tonight at Aunt Loopy and Uncle Russ's house (that is a picture of their koi fish pond in their backyard) and had such a good dinner and then we drove down to Pacific Beach to watch our favorite reggae band "The Devastators" Play. All is well here and Pibbs seems to be enjoying the view just as much as we are. xoxo

Here are some rad pictures (that Lynnie took) of Jessie and Brett who are two people who have been so helpful to us before and after our move and have made the whole experience amazing. Lynnie has known Jessie since they were 3 years old and has spent many many summers with her playing barbies and getting sandy on the beach. They are both such great people and we are so happy to have them in our life! Jessie and Brett are getting married in Nov in Old Town San Deigo and we can't wait to be a part of it all! Today while Nick was at work I went down to Solana beach to the design district and walked into a store where I saw a pewter coated wishbone, I thought it was perfect considering the circumstances with Pibbs before me moved out to Cali. I bought the wishbone as a keepsake reminder of that horrible day but it also brought me a little luck as well. I walked into a photography studio and actually found a job as an assistant to the national photographer of the year and one of San Diegos top 10 photographers. Tomorrow night we are photographing a woman and her three dogs (could it be any more perfect for me!?) The world sure does work in mysterious ways. Hope you are all keeping warm in CO! xo

If you Colorado folk need a break from all that snow you can always come visit us...it was 75 and gorgeous today! Sorry for the Lack of updates but Nick has gone back to work and I have been searching non-stop to find one! Today Nick finally had a day off (which means I did too!) so we grabbed some breakfast from a place called Swamis and since we are both eating healthy these days we ordered an Acai bowl which is just a smoothie in a bowl with fruit, granola, and bee pollen...its pretty delicious but very filling. After that I layed around on the beach while Nick ran around with his soccer ball (he is playing in a league on monday nights now!) Tonight we made a dinner and rushed down to the beach in time to have a mini picnic and watch the sunset it was beautiful of course and we even saw some dolphins! Pibbs is doing great and has met a new friend named Gunther who lives in our apartment complex...Gunther is a French Bulldog so you can imagine all the snorting noises that come out of the two of them when they play. We miss all of tons! xo

I (Lynnie) spent the past couple of days nannying at a house on the beach and although it was a beautiful place with an amazing view it was hard work taking care of FIVE kids between the ages of 1 and 10 who were running around on the beach. It made me miss Jacey and Sammie back in Colorado even more! Love ya guys! Nick and I also went to watch Becca (Nicks sister) play softball at USD today and had a great time...it was so good to see her. We will put up some pictures after tomorrows games. So far so good! We have been having such a great time on our mini vacation and taking the pup to dog beach a ton. Here are a couple more pictures of our life out here and our little apartment. We made it! We arrived at our apartment at around 3 today and both agree that its completely perfect for us and we love everything about it! We quickly unloaded the truck with the help of Loopy (Lynnies aunt), Jessie (Lynnies best friend), and Brett (Jessies fiance) while uncle Russ tended to the wild bulldog. After we packed up we headed down the road and drove along the coast to a dog park so that Pibbs could run free after being so good in the truck for three days....we think he loves this place already. We also had a much needed home cooked meal at Aunt Loopys house. We can honestly say that this just "feels" like home and we can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring for us. Miss you all and we will write soon....if we aren't at the beach

Today we woke up and knew that it would be a MUCH better day then yesterday. We drove just about 11 hours total today and found ourselves on some random road in Stanfield AZ. It just so happens that we booked reservations at one of the nicest places we have ever been too! John Waynes ranch is just down the street and he used to visit the hotel often! We got here around 7 and ate dinner outside with Pibbs in 70 degree weather. We sat for a long time eating and laughing and talking about how we can't wait to finally find California tomorrow. It was a great day and we have pictures to prove it. Check out the photos of Nick doing an Ollie at every place we stopped, the car that was engulfed in flames that we drove past, and the sunset on the 8. Hope you are all doing great, we miss you and will report more tomorrow!

A series of unfortunate events...

Let me start off by saying that we are safe and happy and just woke up to a chubby bulldog hogging the covers at a Days Inn in Albuquerque New Mexico....but it took us everything we had to get here. On Monday morning between between calling for car insurance and eating pancakes we realized that the chicken wishbone that we had been saving for months was left in our moving truck.... and so was Pibbs. Well when we went to the truck to check on him the wishbone was gone. This led us to believe Pibbs ate it so we rushed him to the vet for xrays...$240 dollars, and a clean xray later we found out that he hadnt eaten the bone. Next Nick discovers that the lights on our moving truck aren't working so we had to unload and reload an new truck! The day was crazy but we finally hit the road at around two thirty and made it to NM at eleven pm. Lets hope today goes a little better! Miss you all and we will write from Phoenix! P.S. New Mexico is NOT enchanting.

Nick and I woke up today only to find out that neither of us would have to go to work (on our last day) because of all this snow we got. So instead of laying around inside all day we decided to put on all of our snowboarding gear and go for a walk to the store....bad idea. It took us such a long time to get there and we could barely see but it made for a good story and we got some great pictures. Just another great reason for wanting to move to San Diego! Only 6 days left!

On Saturday night Nick and I had a going away party in Broomfield with about 40 of our closest friends. The party was a blast and we were so happy to be able to say goodbye to our good friends one more time before we head off to California. Only 8 more days left in Colorado!

Road trip plans

When we planned out the road trip we decided there was no other option but to stop in VEGAS on the way through. Upon further examination we have come to the conclusion that it would result in low funds, a night without sleep, and a possible wedding.... so Vegas was out of the question. Instead we plan to stop in "Mini Vegas" aka Mesquite NV and hopefully it will just involve a calm night and a sleepy bulldog.

The Condo

Here is the first photo of our condo in Encinitas! Aunt Loopy was nice enough to check out the place to make sure it wasn't in a trailer park and she took some photos so that we could see what we are getting ourselves into. Looks pretty nice too us but we are a little worried about the bulldog on the hardwood floors. In other words...we are taking in rug donations!

Packing up apt. 204

Nick and I thought it would be a great idea to start a blog to let our friends and family know what we are up to during and after our move to California. 14 days left in Colorado and there is so much to do! We spent the weekend packing the contents of Apt. 204 which is where we have called home for the past two years. After donating and throwing away as much as possible we think we might be able to fit the rest of our belongings in our new 650 sqft apartment in Encinitas, California. We are going to miss all of you so much but we know that many of you will come to visit!
